Get to know CLR’s project management methodology

CLR’s project management methodology

Preliminary phase

Our work begins when the client conveys the need for a new drive system or mechanical component. At that moment, CLR’s project management mechanism is set in motion.All needs are channelled to the Director of Engineering, who develops a preliminary project with the data obtained from the client.This preliminary project includes a draft of the new product, as well as an approximate budget calculation to cover tooling and part costs. After the client’s approval, a meeting is scheduled with the Design Team, where the new project is presented and inputs for the design are completed, thereby opening the project’s file. This preliminary stage concludes by establishing timelines and allocating tasks, moving on to the Product Design phase.

Product design

3D Blueprints and structure, route and packaging proposals are completed at this point by the Project Engineer, and a meeting is held to review the design and process, which is logged in the planning sheet.Once the review is completed, the Director of Engineering submits the 3D model to the client in order for him to see how the final product would result. In addition, the Project Engineer prepares the tooling and part budget, and the sales department issues the final offer to the client, thereby closing the entire process.Once the client gives his confirmation, the prototypes are developed. Obtained results are discussed during the design verification meeting, where structures and routes are also reviewed.The prototypes submitted to the client are accompanied by a report indicating the results obtained during the tests performed at CLR, when applicable.

Process design

Once the client approves the prototype and budget, tooling is designed and manufactured, and a preliminary serial production is obtained, where the process and tooling are validated. After this step, a meeting is held by the design team, where its results are discussed.If everything is in order, the design process is considered to be completed.Otherwise, any necessary modifications are performed –whether in relation to the process or tooling– and a new preliminary serial batch is manufactured.

Quality assurance

CLR applies this method to different industrial sectors, which enables it to properly monitor the entire process in order to offer the highest reliability. This road starts at a draft or idea brought forward by a client, and ends with onsite testing once it is applied, where the operation and performance of the speed reducer are analysed.
