Spanish company with more than 45 years of experience in agricultural facilities, especially in the poultry and pig sectors, contacted CLR in 2000 with the intention of jointly developing a system that, using sensors, would automatically control the ventilation of farms and greenhouses. Nowadays, our customer, a manufacturer of systems of natural ventilation and environmental control for poultry and pig farms (in addition to all types of livestock material and equipment) continues to rely on CLR for the design of its zenithal roof drive systems.
What problems did this project pose to our engineering team?
Our engineering equipment works to exceed the expectations of our customers in the performance and performance of their new ad hoc reducers. Often, efforts are focused on Reduce sound levels or in increase life cycles of the product. In this case, a drive system mounted outside the Poultry farm for window automation, the most critical thing was to ensure the correct collection of information and transmission of the opening and closing movement. The first challenge was load; the vertical movement of heavy and bulky structures such as windows for farms posed a challenge for this drive project. The CLR Project Manager responsible for the project worked together with his team of mechanical engineers to analyze the particularities of the movement to be performed, the drag torque and the optimal speed of movement to ensure maximum precision. In short, the project required meet customer requirements in terms of reliability and warranty.
Drive solution for farm ventilation
CLR developed a customized drive solution (SAP) based on a planetary reducer with engine of direct current. Thanks to the characteristics of this model, the company is adapted to the location cylindrical or tubular in which our reducers were housed. On the other hand, since these types of windows regulate the opening according to the interior temperature so that the air flow is greater or lower, the CLR gearmotor had to be operated with a intermittent load, so it was essential to study the service factor in order to ensure maximum precision in every situation. Finally, the displacement systems used for this project would be powered by a control electronics able to manage, automatically (without the intervention of the farmer) the optimal ventilation on farms. Thus, the sensors record the variations in interior temperature and transmit the information of the necessary opening of the window.
