Interview with Jordi Palacios: The anechoic chamber in reducing the noise of our reducers

At CLR, every detail counts when it comes to quality and to continuously improve our product. One of the aspects where we do the most research is the sound level of our gearmotors, a key factor in many applications where sound can make a difference in the user experience. To guarantee the best results, we have an anechoic chamber where we accurately analyze the sound of our products.

Today we spoke with Jordi Palacios, Project Manager of CLR, to learn more about this technology and its impact on our daily work.

Jordi Palacios

Jordi, for those who are not familiar, what is an anechoic chamber and what role does it play in CLR?

An anechoic chamber is a space designed to eliminate sound reflections and isolate any external noise, creating a fully controlled environment. At CLR, we use it to measure and analyze the sound of our gearmotors.

Why is it so important to study sound in reducers?

The sound they emit can be a sign of potential problems such as wear, friction or mismatches in components. In addition, in certain sectors, reducing sound or eliminating noise is essential to improve the user experience. Thanks to these analyses, we can optimize our designs and offer products with better sound quality.

What tests are performed inside the chamber?

We carry out a series of vibroacoustic measurements, such as sound pressure, the analysis of frequency spectra and the study of vibrations. We also explore how different materials and components affect sound emission.

What is the measurement process like in the anechoic chamber?

We place the gearmotor in a specific position and use high-precision elements to capture the different waves that are emitted. Then, we analyze the data with specialized software that allows us to detect patterns and find solutions to effectively reduce noise.

How does this analysis impact the improvement of CLR products?

It allows us to fine-tune the design, adjust tolerances and choose the right materials to minimize noise and vibrations.

Have you made significant progress in reducing noise?

Yes, thanks to this technology we have been able to significantly reduce sound in some models, something that has been key to meeting the demands of some sectors with high sound requirements.

What is the future of acoustic analysis in CLR?

We continue to research and collaborate together with the University of Alicante to continue improving the acoustic performance of our products. Innovation in this field is key to continuing to offer cutting-edge solutions.

If you are currently experiencing sound problems in the gearmotors you use, at CLR we can help. Our team of experts and our anechoic chamber allow us to study and offer adapted solutions to minimize acoustic impact and optimize the performance of your systems.
